Meeting Recap-February 25, 2012

Eight of us were able to attend our monthly meeting though only a few rode in, as the weather was cool in spite of the bright sunlight. We welcomed back our favorite, Ken Klaus and his Baloney Shop where this month he addressed the wrong impression Jefferson Bethke's "Why I Love Jesus, But Hate Religion" gives its viewers. Klaus has a great way of getting his message across.

Bob (the elder) took the group through a few changes and additions recently made to the web site's Web-link contents. A Face Plant group pulls together all of the Mulholland Drive examples with other similar videos, while Roads To Remember has a number of quality videos of outstanding motorcycle roads added. Dan reminded us that the web-site is well into its third year and up for renewal. Bob (the younger) generously covered the cost for the next three years.

Two "training" videos were viewed, one showing by bad example how not to take a turn, the other a compilation of bike/scooter crashes in what we believe to be Taiwan (if you know better let us know). These "100 crashes in 6 minutes" gave dozens of scenes that could be analyzed to see what went wrong. Both videos are posted on the web-site, one in Training (#21), the other in Face Plants.

The group decided to move the Fort Mountain Ride from March 10th to March 31st to accommodate more riders. The plan is to combine the monthly meeting with the ride by starting the meeting at Timothy at 9 a.m. and beginning the ride at 10 a.m. The abbreviated meeting will probably contain a Baloney Shop session, a few odds and ends, and finalizing the plans for an April overnight ride to Cherohala and the Smokies (more later).

Take a look at the added videos, especially Roads To Remember. If they don't cause you to want to "saddle up" you need to check for a pulse.
