Six of us met on this rainy Saturday morning and hashed out a plan for the October camp-n-ride. Friday/Saturday October 16-17 was selected as the date, with T.W.O in Suches the Friday night destination. Rides on Saturday will take in all our favorite roads in the vicinity of Suches. Folks not intending to camp Friday night can ride up to Suches Saturday morning to join the others around 10 am for the rides. The Friday ride to Suches will take off from the Chevron station at exit 27 of I-575 at 3 pm. More details will follow as the date approaches.
The remainder of the meeting included short videos featuring gravel riding with a street bike, and tips on what to expect riding in Summer rain. Smarter-Every- Day filled us in on why water swirls counter clockwise down the drain, while Russians and Ukrainians entertained with their antics.
The next meeting will be on Saturday October 24th instead on the 31st to avoid any conflict with Halloween.
Eleven of us got together at Timothy Saturday to firm up a ride plan for September/October, tie up some loose ends from our July meeting, learn something, and have a good time.
We settled on September 12 for the next ride. It will follow the plan pictured in http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner/share/738196 This includes a ride along the Ocoee and Hiawassee rivers and up Chilhowee Mountain. More details will come out as the ride date approaches.
We discussed the ride-n-camp to Mt. Mitchell tentatively planned for Fri/Sat October 23-24. While this may happen, it seemed to have been supplanted by interest in using TWO in Suches for camping rather than the much longer ride to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mt. Mitchell. This will be sorted out by our September 26th meeting.
Much of the remainder of the meeting focused on video messages from the Baloney Shop, Captain Crash and an assortment of short instructional/safety clips, as well as a peek into a kangaroo's pouch, courtesy of one of our favorites, Smarter Every Day.
After the meeting we had a chance to look over Bob's new bug-out vehicle (Ural Gear-Up sidecar rig) pictured below in photos supplied by Larry.
Six of us met Saturday to lay out a plan for future rides, and discuss some motorcycle topics, including an informative video about the batteries now available on the market for motorcycles (and cars). The video has been added to our Weblinks at http://tlcmc.org/index.php/component/weblinks/?task=weblink.go&id=172
We decided to reschedule the twice canceled ride, Back Way To Morganton, to August 15th. With many schools back in session in August we should have a better chance for participation. The ride is pictured here http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner/share/723537
For September the thought was to ride the Oconee Gorge and Greasy Creek (TN30) including a side trip up Chilhowee Mountain. A detailed ride plan will be available for our next meeting.
The two day ride to Mount Mitchell is tentatively set for an October weekend with an exact date to be determined later. We also discussed the possibility of a Fall ride over to Cheaha Mountain in Alabama. We'll discuss this further at another meeting.
The remainder of the meeting highlighted some thoughts from Captain Crash and a few video clips, both humorous and informative (sort of).
The next meeting will be on August 29th, 9 am.
Ten of us met on this rain soaked Saturday to attend a regular monthly meeting that was shortened in order to have time after the meeting for a demonstration of the capabilities of Steve G's "Trinity Steam Solutions" http://trinitysteamsolutions.com/
The meeting had a mix of videos including one from LHM's Baloney Shop, another from Half Throttle's adventures and a few real-life safety clips.
One key objective of the meeting, establishing a ride schedule for July was incomplete. While the proposed route http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner/share/723537 was agreed to, a date for the ride was left open, pending input from y'all on the following questions:
1) are your current plans (vacation, travel, injury recovery, etc.) such that you will not be riding with tlcmc any time in July? If so answer yes and skip the following questions.
2) would you likely go if the ride was scheduled for July 25th, in lieu of a monthly meeting?
3) would you likely go if July 11th were the ride date?
4) would you likely go if July 18th were the ride date?
Please respond (copy all) with at least one selection by July 4th, so we can firm up our plans.
